Brand New Sin has risen to new levels with the disenfranchised roar of

United State out now on Goomba Music.

The enduring trio of Kris Wiechmann (Vocals/Guitar), Chuck Kahl (Bass), and Kevin Dean (Drums) are joined by the new blood of Tommy Matkowski on lead guitar. Tommy’s playing is truly the finishing piece to this already powerful puzzle, lending a fresh and deeply rooted hard rock style to the Brand New Sin sound. This line-up spent much of 2010 on the road together defining the terms of United State, including opening shows for Slash & Myles Kennedy.

United State expands on their 2009 independent release, Distilled, delivering some of the most accomplished and self-defining tracks of the band’s career. It’s clear that the lyrics of these autobiographical songs resonate in the state of mind of so many today. United State is a time capsule of the struggle to survive and overcome in our current society. Many of the songs are about self-reflection. Wiechmann taps into the psyche of the masses: the moments that define each of us. “Infamous” and “Elbow Grease” animate the thoughts of a listener pondering their own past. The rage of songs like “Goddess Of War” and “Bed Of Nails” call out those that try and take advantage of the plight of others, while the anthemic “All My Wheels” tells a story of the struggle to live life never looking back, never regretting, uncompromised.

United State sees a determined and confident Brand New Sin voicing the rage of the world, through fiercely developed statements in lyrics, riffs, and powerfully crafted guitar solos, backed by a driving rhythm section that continues to define strength.

Blue collar, beer drinking, Rock N’ F’n Roll!

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH ANNOUNCE CANADIAN TOUR, SELECT WEST COAST DATES

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 23, 2012

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH ANNOUNCE CANADIAN TOUR, SELECT WEST COAST DATES

SOULFLY TO SUPPORT ALONG WITH WINDOWPANE, PERSIST

Las Vegas, NV – American Capitalism will be heading to the Great White North this spring.  Five Finger Death Punch has announced they will tour Canada as well as the Western US beginning this March, with legendary Soulfly as support, as well as Windowpane and Persist.  5FDP will headline Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg and more, while also playing a special Las Vegas hometown show alongside other western-US markets.  Singer Ivan Moody shared, “The few times we’ve been to Canada it’s been absolutely phenomenal.  The fact that we get to take a band like Soulfly with us on a tour like this says it all.  This is going to be one hell of a great time, in no uncertain terms.”  Guitarist Zoltán Báthory added, “We only played a handful of dates in Canada, but they were all sold-out so we are really looking forward to a headlining tour up there.   What makes it even sweeter is taking one of our favorite bands Soulfly with us on this trek.  As we are playing bigger and bigger venues, I think it became our responsibility to help expose some great metal bands to our more diverse audience .”

This will be 5FDP’s first proper headlining tour in Western Canada, where their current album, American Capitalist is already more than halfway to CRIA-Certified Gold Record Status – a mere three months after its release.  5FDP’s previous album, War is the Answer, is projected to hit CRIA-GOLD Status this spring, right around the time of the tour.

In the US, 5FDP continues to rack up impressive sales with over 280,000 copies of American Capitalist already sold.  Incredibly, American Capitalist is selling twice as fast as their previous Gold record, War Is the Answer- which itself has been one of the best-selling hard rock/ metal albums of the last five years. 5FDP’s current hit single, “Remember Everything” is already Top Five at Active Rock and climbing; their lead single, “Under and Over It,” was recently named Sirius Octane’s Song of the Year, and American Capitalist was named a Top Album of 2011 by ARTISTdirect.

Tickets go on sale to the general public the weekend of January 27th and 28th, but special VIP packages and tickets will be available starting WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 25th 3pm LOCAL at

Her Bed Of Thorns – Alive CD Review

Her Bed Of Thorns – Alive CD Review

Release Date February 1st 2012

Great CD from California based band Her Bed Of Thorns. I was pleasantly surprised when I put this in. Although I don’t think the production is great, I think the songs are. Taking nothing away from any other member of the band I think Bil Griffith (Bass) stands out on a lot of the songs. While most are hard hitting like “Bad Girl”, “Broken” and the title track “Alive” I like the slower tunes “Fall Down” and “Help Me” as well. I think “Alive” is well rounded and sounds best when played loud.

Her Bed Of Thorns is:

CHRIS IRICK – VOCALS/GUITAR
TIM MICHOLSON – GUITAR
BIL GRIFFITH – BASS
WILL THOMPSON – DRUMS

LESLIE WEST RETURN TO THE ROAD JANUARY 31

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE  January 11, 2012

LESLIE WEST HONORED WITH ALTRUISTIC GESTURE

FROM THE VEHICLE PRODUCTION GROUP

Legendary Guitarist Receives New MV-1 Enabling West To Tour

FIRST POST-AMPUTATION PUBLIC PERFORMANCES ANNOUNCED

WITH RETURN TO THE ROAD JANUARY 31

New York, NY – The Vehicle Production Group, a brand new American car company that designs, engineers, and distributes specialty vehicles, has altruistically gifted a brand new MV-1 to Leslie West.  Faced with the challenges of touring following the June, 2011 amputation of his right leg above the knee, the MV-1 is the first mobility vehicle designed from the ground up for wheelchair accessibility, and this act of kindness has solved the major obstacle that derailed the guitarist’s prior plans to return to the road.

The MV-1 is not an aftermarket conversion.  The vehicle is the only factory built mode of transportation that meets or exceeds the guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) direct from the factory.  The fully boxed, body-on-frame design provides unrivaled strength, safety, and durability, and the MV-1 meets or exceeds all of the requirements set by the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS).  The Vehicle Production Group has partnered with AM General to assemble the MV-1 at their state-of-the-art plant in Mishawaka, Indiana, the former home of the Hummer H2.  This new product is the only vehicle made in America with a factory installed Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fuel system option.

West received the vehicle from The Vehicle Production Group on December 22, 2011.  The guitarist shared, “This is nicer than any guitar I have ever owned, and I’ve had some pretty incredible instruments including my own Leslie West Dean Signature Series.  I was speechless.  People would be proud to own this vehicle.  The gestures made collectively by Fred, Brian and Steven, are the most generous I have experienced in my life.”  Fred Drasner, Chairman of The Vehicle Production Group LLC added, “From my days at Woodstock, to the release of Unusual Suspects, I always thought Leslie West was the best. When I heard his tour was cancelled because of a lack of accessible transportation, I was thrilled to be in a position to help him get back on the road. For me and his millions of fans, that is where he should be. All of us at VPG are extremely proud to be a part of getting Leslie safely back on the road in comfort and style in his new MV-1”.

West will return to the road on January 31st for initial performances in the Northeastern U.S.  Confirmed shows with Uli Jon Roth include appearances in:

1/31   New York, NY                                     BB Kings

2/01   Foxborough, MA                                Showcase Live

2/03   Sellersville, PA                                   Sellersville Theatre

2/04   Sayreville, NJ                                      Starland Ballroom

West is a guitar god.  From the Sixties through today, he has been revered by artists and fans alike.  He has been in command of one of the biggest, boldest electric guitar tones known to humankind from the 1969 Woodstock Festival that placed his band Mountain in to historical lore through his current release Unusual Suspects.  At age 66, West continues to remain current, as witnessed by the assemblage of legends joining him on the album which include Billy Gibbons, Slash, Zakk Wylde, Joe Bonamassa and Steve Lukather, alongside Kenny Aronoff.  West shared, “These guys don’t show up to play on everybody’s albums.  They’re stars in their own right and fantastic players – everyone with their own sound and style, and about as far from ‘the usual suspects’ as it gets.”

DEBUT FROM FLYING COLORS Featuring Mike Portnoy, Dave LaRue, Neal Morse, Casey McPherson and Steve Morse

MASCOT LABEL GROUP ANNOUNCES MARCH 27 RELEASE DATE

FOR DEBUT FROM FLYING COLORS

Quintet Features Mike Portnoy, Dave LaRue, Neal Morse, Casey McPherson and Steve Morse

New York — Mascot Label Group has announced a March 27 release date for the debut from Flying Colors (available the day prior overseas) on their Music Theories Label. The formation of the ensemble began with a simple idea: virtuoso musicians and a pop singer joining together to make new-fashioned music the old fashioned way.  Refreshing, classic, old and new, the recordings are saturated with the many styles, tones and hues of the players who in becoming a band have delivered a unique fusion of vintage craftsmanship and contemporary music.  Flying Colors is Mike Portnoy (drums, vocals), Dave LaRue (bass), Neal Morse (keyboards, vocals), Casey McPherson (lead vocals), and Steve Morse (guitar).  Portnoy shares, “This album has bits and pieces of what you’d expect from each of us. However, the sum of all its parts led to brand new, unchartered territory for all involved.”

In 2008, executive producer Bill Evans brought the idea to the world renowned musicians and producer Peter Collins. Intrigued by the idea, and the prospect of working together, the four signed on to form a band and record a first album.  Steve Morse and Dave LaRue have developed a magical music chemistry over the years, that began early in their careers as partners in Dixie Dregs.  Morse subsequently became a member of Deep Purple in 1995, while LaRue’s ongoing musical adventures include Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, Jordan Rudess, Steve Vai, and the aforementioned Portnoy.  Multi-instrumentalist, composer and singer Neal Morse is one of the leading figures in progressive rock, who’s significant notoriety follows his co-founding of the seminal band, Spock’s Beard in 1995, recordings as a solo artist, and contributions to the super-group Transatlantic.  Mike Portnoy is one of the most popular and respected drummers in both metal and rock, and an accomplished writer and producer.  He is the recipient of numerous industry accolades, including 26 Modern Drummer awards, Revolver Magazine’s Golden God award for “Best Drummer” and Drum Magazine‘s “Drummer of the Year”.  He rose to prominence as the leader, drummer, producer, and co-writer for metal/prog juggernaut Dream Theater, before moving on in 2010. That same year, he worked on Avenged Sevenfold’s #1 album Nightmare and their subsequent tour.  And, it was Portnoy who recommended Alpha Rev’s emotive singer Casey McPherson as a contender to join Flying Colors.

McPherson, who’s 2010 Hollywood/Disney album New Morning debuted in the Top-5 on two Billboard charts, enjoyed major success at radio with multiple hits.  The track “New Morning” spent 17 weeks in the Top-10 on Triple A Radio, and enjoyed a run on Vh1’s Top-20 Countdown for months. Steve Morse offers, “Casey was a glorious find, because he could make anything sound fantastic, and is a multitalented like the others.”

Flying Colors convened for just nine days in early 2011, and composed and recorded this album during a short and intense session.  Dave LaRue recalls, “It was quite an experience – the band moved at a fast pace, ideas flying around the room at all times. Sections of tunes were arranged, then re-arranged, ideas were tried every which way until we made them work, or, in some cases, discarded them altogether. Just keeping track of everything was a challenge!”  McPherson adds, “This record is filled with trial and triumph. Raw and delicate songs alike amidst the swirling and daring orchestration of Steve, Neal, Mike and Dave. It’s been such an inspiring challenge melding folk, prog, pop, and metal all into one big recording.”

Touring plans for Flying Colors will be announced in the coming months

Twisted Sister Christmas Extravaganza – December 17th, Best Buy Theater, NYC

Twisted Sister Christmas Extravaganza – December 17th, Best Buy Theater, NYC

I could not think of a better way to spend a Saturday night than hanging out at a Twisted Sister Christmas Show with dedicated fans and the man himself Santa Clause. The band’s stage was set up like Santa’s work shop with crazy elves shooting soap suds on the crowd. Each member of the band took the stage one by one followed by Dee dressed as Santa being pulled on a sleigh by three scantily clad female reindeer. Dee proceeded to throw candy canes and condoms to the fans from his sack of goodies. Then the band went into their first song, “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”, followed by “The Kids Are Back”, and “White Christmas”. The band stopped and Dee addressed the fans in his usual fashion before going into “Destroyer”, “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause” and “You Can’t Stop Rock N’ Roll”. After all these years Twisted Sister still has it. And so do the fans. Not only did they know the Twisted tunes, they knew every Christmas song as well. Twisted always puts on a killer show. Every person on the stage seemed to have a lot of just plain fun and energy. They looked as if they could have gone all night.  After a few more songs and “Silver Bells”, Pant less Clause came out on stage to ask the band what they wanted for Christmas. A.J. Pero received a deer bike covered in fake deer fur. Mark “The Animal” Mendoza received a giant hand gun. Eddie Ojeda got hooked up with a giant rocking horse, ridden by a crazy elf. J.J. French got a guitar shaped like a shark, presented by his daughter Sam. Then Pant less Clause asked Dee what he wanted and he proceeded to tell him that he wanted to rock and you guessed it they went in to “I Wanna Rock”. The band left the stage for only a minute or so and came back out for their encore, “Heavy Metal Christmas” and “We’re Not Gonna Take It”. This was truly a fun night of Rock N Roll with a band whose music never gets old.

Ace Frehley Bassist Anthony Esposito interviewed

Ace Frehley Bassist Anthony Esposito interviewed

RN: What’s up man how have you been?

Anthony Esposito: Great man.

RN: I caught your show in Allentown PA. You guys did a killer job.

Anthony Esposito: Thank you. That was a crazy show. It was a lot of fun. That was the first time we have been back there since the New Years Eve show a few years back.

RN: First I wanted to ask what kind of bass are you playing.

Anthony Esposito: I am so honored to have been asked to play this bass. The guys name is James Trussart. The body is metal and it’s hollow. It has to be one of the best basses I have ever played. You can find him on line. I urge everyone to look him up.

RN: I wanted to ask you, how did you get the Ace Frehley gig?

Anthony Esposito: Well about five or 6 years ago. I went to his house for an audition and we just clicked.

RN: What’s next for the Ace Frehley band?

Anthony Esposito: We were supposed to go to England but those shows have been canceled. Ace broke his wrist. I think we are going to be touring in support of Ace’s book. That landed on the New York Times best sellers list. I know there is talk about doing a 1978 solo album tour and there is some talk about doing a new CD.

RN: What do you consider some of your best moments on stage with or without Ace?

Anthony Esposito: When I was in the 5th grade I played this talent show. I remember doing two Ramones songs and doing two Kiss songs. As an adult I was in a band called The Remains with Marky and Dee Dee Ramone and I played those two Ramones songs with them and now playing with Ace I am playing those 2 Kiss songs. Playing with members of two of your favorite bands as a kid is pretty awesome. Every night when Ace goes into the solo of  “Love Gun” I get chills. There are a lot of moments that you don’t even think of until they are over. And you think back and go wow. Playing Mr. Scary with George Lynch when I was in Lynch Mob was pretty cool. We did a gig with Ace in Sweden in front of 85,000 people. The bill was us, Def Leppard, Tesla and White Snake., and playing Cold Gin along side of Ace in front of 85,000 people is just incredible. Another one was a few years back we played a Halloween show opening for Alice Cooper. We all wore Ace’s make up. Being in the space man costume and looking over at Ace playing with out face paint was crazy.

RN: How is that going from 85,000 people to a small club?

Anthony Esposito: I know this sounds like a cop out and a lot of people say this but I prefer the small clubs. The fans are right in front of you with no police barricade. It just feels right.

RN: What do you do when you’re not playing with Ace?

Anthony Esposito: When I lived in New York I owned a studio called School House Studios. We did Ace’s last record there. We did bands like the Misfits, The New Your Dolls and Green Day. I moved the studio to Pennsylvania when I moved there. I just produced my first band there called ” 1 Echo 1 ” they are a really good band from Harrisburg PA. So you can say I am open for business.

RN: Did you produce the bands as well?

Anthony Esposito: I didn’t produce all the bands. I did produce some. I engineered some. Ace pretty much produced his album himself. Ace and I did all the pre-production. Anton did the drums. A lot of his song ideas were on various digital recorders that he had during the Kiss tour and it just all came together.  Than we got Anton in there on the drums and just played everything out to see how it would all fit together, and that’s pretty much    how Anomaly happened.

RN: What’s the name of your new Studio?

Anthony Esposito: Obscenic Arts. It’s In Dillsburg, Pennsylvania.

RN: What do you like the most about producing music?

Anthony Esposito: I really like helping younger bands get more out of their songs than they thought they had. It’s fun. That’s what I enjoy.

RN: Can you tell me about the band Pisser you are also in?

Anthony Esposito: Pisser is a band that I am in with Frank Ferer who is in Guns N Roses and Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal on guitar who is also in Guns N Roses and this amazing singer Eric J. Toast.

RN: How would you describe Pisser’s sound?

Anthony Esposito: I would say 1970’s AC/DC with Iggy Pop singing that’s what Pisser sounds like. It’s a lot of fun.

RN: Even though you guys are all in different bands and are on the road a lot Pisser is something you guys are going to move forward with?

Anthony Esposito: Yeah…The problem is that those guys are on tour with Guns N Roses and I’m out with Ace it’s hard to find time to do it. As soon as Guns N Roses gets off tour we will record. We are just not home at the same time. But Pisser is a joy to be in. It’s like four friends that just get together and have a good time. The band really is something to see live and we are going to try and capture that on CD.

RN: What else will you be working on in the New Year?

Anthony Esposito: I’ll be working with Todd Youth on his band called The Chelsea Smiles. I think we should be doing that in January. And I should be starting work on a new Pure 13 record.  Any day making music is a good day in my book.
