KIX put on a spectacular show when they played Penn’s Peak in Jim Thorpe PA. Friday, October 29th. You would never know it’s been thirty plus years since these guys formed. They hit the stage on fire and never let up. The energy was at such a high level, they put a lot of younger bands to shame. The musicianship and vocals were spot on and flawless.

Penn’s Peak was packed and KIX has some pretty die heard fans. The Simon Family a group of ten people took a road from Fenton MI. to come see the show. If that’s not die hard I don’t know what is.

Stephen Pearcy opened the show. I thought he sounded better and looked more comfortable then he did when I seen him with Ratt in Philadelphia back in May. He opened his set with the Arcade song “Dancin’ With The Angels” and then rocked Ratt songs for the rest of the night.

KIX Set List Was As Follows:

Steven Adler / Chip Z’nuff Interviewed

This Interview was conducted on the Adler’s Appetite tour bus on July 27th at the Mill Creek Tavern in Philadelphia PA. Read On……..

RN: How is the tour going?

STEVEN ADLER: It’s been really exciting. We are meeting so many great people.

RN: I don’t want to keep you long, I know you did the Howard Stern Show this morning and the book signing this afternoon. And I don’t want to ask you the same stuff that you have already been interviewed about. I only have one question for you.

STEVEN ADLER: Go ahead shoot

RN: Not too many people have had the chances you have had to clean them selves up. I just want to know if you got your shit together?

STEVEN ADLER: Everything been great.

RN: How long have you been clean for?

STEVEN ADLER: I have 5 months going. I relapsed five months ago. I never did Oxycontin. I never knew about those.

CHIP Z’NUFF: What did Howard Stern call them today? Hillbilly heroin.

STEVEN ADLER: I did it for like three weeks and my wife took a picture of me passed out in my hallway of my house. I don’t even remember it. I called DR. Drew. I said” can you help me out. I need a little help. I need to go in to detox.’ He said “ when do you want to go” I said” right now” You fall down sometimes and pick your self back up and dust your self off and carry on. That was five months ago.

RN: Well, you can never say you’re done. All you can say is that you not going to use today.

STEVEN ADLER: No you can’t. And you right.

RN: Congratulations on five months clean.

STEVEN ADLER: Thank you. I’ll let Chip handle the rest.

RN: OK bro thank you.

STEVEN ADLER: No problem. Thank you.

(Steven gets up and leaves for the back of the bus)

RN: So what’s up with Enuff Z‘nuff.

CHIP Z’NUFF: We did a record. It’s called Dissonance. And we decided to go out and support it. We went to Japan. And we did Europe. Just last month I was out with Areosmith, Stone Temple Pilots, Slash and Cinderella. We all played The Download Festival at Donington. We did a few shows in London and jumped on this tour after that.

RN: How well did the CD do?

CHIP Z’NUFF: There is no label here in the United States. Except our own. We don’t have a lot of support here in the U.S. as over in Japan and Europe we have proper labels working the record. It’s such a good record. Jake E. Lee played on it. We did the whole record in Las Vegas. It shows a real heavy aggressive side of Enuff Z‘nuff which our fans seem to embrace. The record has done well over there but over here it’s been a little more difficult.

RN: And now you have a new Adler’s Appetite single. Will there be a CD with all new material?

CHIP Z’NUFF: I have really devoted my time into Adler’s Appetite to really give this a chance. We are not just throwing one song out there. The first single is really strong. It’s going to rock radio now. I think he has a chance to get back in, because of his book and his affiliation with Guns N Roses. Everybody here has a good opportunity to get out there and work. In this day and age where Live Nation has dropped four hundred tours this year, we are really grateful to be working. We have a great agency behind us. We are going to Europe later this year. I think that’s important for us because there is a ton of fans that want to see these guys. We have Alex Grossi, he played in Quit Riot. We have Michael Thomas from Faster Pussycat. Rick Stitch, not a lot of people know that he played drums with Kurt Cobain when he was a kid. Now here he is the lead singer of our band. He has great chops and a lot of promise. So we have a pretty good team here. We are in a day and age where there is too much product and not enough demand. However you go out there and work hard everything else will follow.

Thank you Steven and Chip for taking time out to hang.

Paul Tauterouff’s – Audio Chocolate CD Review

Paul Tauterouff’s – Audio Chocolate CD Review

Paul Tauterouff’s Audio Chocolate has a lot to offer people who don’t normally listen to instrumentals as well as those who love them. Audio Chocolate has ten songs, six instrumentals and four with vocals. It’s really hard for me to pin point where Paul’s Signature sound lies. Audio Chocolate showcases many different styles, Blues, Metal, and Jazz along with that long forgotten rock n roll feel.

Track List Is As Follows

Bitty Bop

Voices

Frozen Heart

Third Heart

Rebel

Sapphire

Suburb Blues

Frozen Heart – T2 Edition

The Journey

Farewell

I had a chance to ask Paul a few questions about Audio Chocolate. Check It Out

RN: How long have you been playing for?

PAUL TAUTEROUFF: I started playing around 8 or 9 years old. My father bought me an acoustic guitar? A few years later around the age of 14, I bought my first electric guitar and my first amp.

RN: Growing up, what bands inspired you the most?

PAUL TAUTEROUFF: Well it had to be Kiss. My buddies and I would sit in my mom’s basement and play air guitar to Kiss Alive. I was a big time Kiss freak. Kiss was the starter.

RN: At what point did you decide to quit your day job and become a full time musician?

PAUL TAUTEROUFF: I was teaching at a music store and I wanted to become a better teacher. Not that I thought I was a bad teacher, I just wanted to be the best teacher that I could be. Around 2006 I ran across Tom Hess. I signed up with Tom to become a better teacher. After a little bite of that. He started up this program called The Music Careers Mentoring Program. I was a little hesitant at first, but I signed up. And I’m glade I did because it changed my attitude and gave me the tools to get myself out there a little bite. In 2007 Tom hired me to be Co. Manager of The Music Careers Mentoring Program. So that was a big turn for me. I now had another music related income besides for teaching. At that point I was still working a day job and I was teaching and it was getting pretty tough. In 2008 we did a guitar clinic tour together and Tom and I were sitting in a dinner in up state NY. He asks me “why I didn’t quit my day job“? After he said that, all I could thing about it how wonderful it would be to make my own hours and be in control of my own time. And I have already seen people getting laid off after they have been there 30 and 40 years. And that’s when I made the decision to be my own boss. Because I’ll never piss my self off enough to fire myself.

RN: Tell us about your CD Audio Chocolate?

PAUL TAUTEROUFF: It was long over due. I remember when Steve Via and Joe Satriani came out with their first CD’s. That was a huge influence on me. To have my own CD with my name on it.

RN: The Song “Frozen Heart” you do as an instrumental and with vocals as well. Why did you decide to do that?

PAUL TAUTEROUFF: I was going to put it on the CD as an instrumental and I got an e mail from the singer, Peter Tamdog, he is from Germany. And he recorded vocals over the song without asking me and sent it to me as a surprise. I liked it so much I had him send me the original files and I added it to the song.

RN: Why didn’t you go with an all instrumental CD?

PAUL TAUTEROUFF: My original intention was to do an instrumental CD. I asked a friend of mine Johnny Ryan, to do lyrics for the song “Rebel” he did a great job and at the time I was trying to figure out what I was going to do with the song “Voices” I asked him to sing on that too. So I went with a blend because I thought people would like it.

RN: What’s next? Do you have any plans for your next project?

PAUL TAUTEROUFF: I am starting on the next PAUL TAUTEROUFF CD right away and that will be a full on instrumental. And also Jonny Ryan and I are starting a soulful, heavy rock band with a blues influence called American Mongrel.

Thanks to PAUL TAUTEROUFF for taking time and talking to us.

LYNAM SET TO RELEASE FINAL ALBUM

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SUBJECT: LYNAM SET TO RELEASE FINAL ALBUM

Parlin, NJ — Birmingham, AL rock band Lynam is gearing up for the release of their new live album entitled Thank You Good Night! On November 30th through Island/Def Jam digital distribution and New Ocean Media. Thank You Good Night! is the bands 6th album since forming in 2001 and will be the band’s last album.

“People have been asking us for years to do a live album” says frontman Jacob Lynam. “We’ve been recording our shows since 2006 using Pro Tools on our soundman’s laptop. We started listening to all the different shows from the different tours and decided to have our producer mix it and put it out.” “A lot of bands go in the studio and fix all the mistakes on their live records, but we didn’t fix anything” adds bassist Mark Lynam. “Mistakes and all, this is a live record that represents our band and we’re really proud of it.”

Thank You Good Night! was recorded at various shows from 2006 – 2010 by the bands soundman Todd ‘Pee-Nut’ Hester and mixed by Jason Elgin (Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster, Terrible Things, Collective Soul). The new album will be Lynam’s final album. “we’re not breaking up” states Jacob. “We’ve been together for a long time and we want to concentrate on new projects. We are all still best friends and will always play together moving forward, but we’re ready to explore different oppor- tunities outside of Lynam. We toured behind Tragic City Symphony for 2 years and are looking for- ward to touring behind the new record.”

Lynam consists of Jacob Lynam (lead vocals, guitar), David Lynam (drums, vocals), and Mark Lynam (Bass, Vocals). Lynam released 3 albums independently from 2002 – 2004 (White Trash Superstar, Bling! Bling!, and Life In Reverse). In 2005, Lynam signed a deal with DRT/Universal Records and released the critically acclaimed album Slave To The Machine in 2006. This album peaked at #21 on Billboard’s Top Independent Albums chart and #19 on the Heat- seekers chart. The first single ‘Tanis’ went to #1 on both the active rock independent and main-stream rock independent charts. The band’s last album Tragic City Symphony (Megaforce/Mascot Records) featured the radio singles ‘Save My Soul’, ‘Lindsay Says’, and ‘Porn Star’. All three singles reached the top 10 on the active rock independent chart with ‘Save My Soul’ reaching top 5 with over 2 million in audience.

Backwoods Payback Show Review

Backwoods Payback put on a killer performance at the Mill Creek Tavern in Philadelphia PA on Friday Sept 24th when they played the Small Stone Records Showcase as part of the Philadelphia Film Festival. I was disappointed, their set time was short and they only played seven songs. But they killed within the time that was allotted. They opened with the song Wide Eyed followed by the Black Sabbath-esque Baja 6 pack. The song Day To Day was next followed by an awesome rendition of their song Dirtbike. Next up was the song Mickey Morandini, You Shittin’ Me and the last song was Hates You. Call their style of music what you want, Doom Metal or Stoner Rock I think they can only be can only be categorized as Backwoods Payback.
