This Interview was conducted on the Adler’s Appetite tour bus on July 27th at the Mill Creek Tavern in Philadelphia PA. Read On……..
RN: How is the tour going?
STEVEN ADLER: It’s been really exciting. We are meeting so many great people.
RN: I don’t want to keep you long, I know you did the Howard Stern Show this morning and the book signing this afternoon. And I don’t want to ask you the same stuff that you have already been interviewed about. I only have one question for you.
STEVEN ADLER: Go ahead shoot
RN: Not too many people have had the chances you have had to clean them selves up. I just want to know if you got your shit together?
STEVEN ADLER: Everything been great.
RN: How long have you been clean for?
STEVEN ADLER: I have 5 months going. I relapsed five months ago. I never did Oxycontin. I never knew about those.
CHIP Z’NUFF: What did Howard Stern call them today? Hillbilly heroin.
STEVEN ADLER: I did it for like three weeks and my wife took a picture of me passed out in my hallway of my house. I don’t even remember it. I called DR. Drew. I said” can you help me out. I need a little help. I need to go in to detox.’ He said “ when do you want to go” I said” right now” You fall down sometimes and pick your self back up and dust your self off and carry on. That was five months ago.
RN: Well, you can never say you’re done. All you can say is that you not going to use today.
STEVEN ADLER: No you can’t. And you right.
RN: Congratulations on five months clean.
STEVEN ADLER: Thank you. I’ll let Chip handle the rest.
RN: OK bro thank you.
STEVEN ADLER: No problem. Thank you.
(Steven gets up and leaves for the back of the bus)
RN: So what’s up with Enuff Z‘nuff.
CHIP Z’NUFF: We did a record. It’s called Dissonance. And we decided to go out and support it. We went to Japan. And we did Europe. Just last month I was out with Areosmith, Stone Temple Pilots, Slash and Cinderella. We all played The Download Festival at Donington. We did a few shows in London and jumped on this tour after that.
RN: How well did the CD do?
CHIP Z’NUFF: There is no label here in the United States. Except our own. We don’t have a lot of support here in the U.S. as over in Japan and Europe we have proper labels working the record. It’s such a good record. Jake E. Lee played on it. We did the whole record in Las Vegas. It shows a real heavy aggressive side of Enuff Z‘nuff which our fans seem to embrace. The record has done well over there but over here it’s been a little more difficult.
RN: And now you have a new Adler’s Appetite single. Will there be a CD with all new material?
CHIP Z’NUFF: I have really devoted my time into Adler’s Appetite to really give this a chance. We are not just throwing one song out there. The first single is really strong. It’s going to rock radio now. I think he has a chance to get back in, because of his book and his affiliation with Guns N Roses. Everybody here has a good opportunity to get out there and work. In this day and age where Live Nation has dropped four hundred tours this year, we are really grateful to be working. We have a great agency behind us. We are going to Europe later this year. I think that’s important for us because there is a ton of fans that want to see these guys. We have Alex Grossi, he played in Quit Riot. We have Michael Thomas from Faster Pussycat. Rick Stitch, not a lot of people know that he played drums with Kurt Cobain when he was a kid. Now here he is the lead singer of our band. He has great chops and a lot of promise. So we have a pretty good team here. We are in a day and age where there is too much product and not enough demand. However you go out there and work hard everything else will follow.
Thank you Steven and Chip for taking time out to hang.
