RN: What makes the new CD “Justice’ different from “Light It Up“?

Julien Jorgensen: I think the record as a whole is just a better body of work. What we set out to do with this record is to try and capture the live energy the band brings day in and day out. To do that we went to Producer Terry Date who produced a lot of bands we love like Sound Garden, Pantera and Deftones. He really captures the true sound of the band. And I feel that this record above all the other stuff we have done captures the true sound of Rev Theory.

RN: Was the song writing process different for this record?

Julien Jorgensen: I think we had a pretty distinct idea of what we wanted to accomplish on this record. We had a pretty clear vision. I think we really worked hard. Most of the writing came from within. We did work with a few outside writers that we really like. But most of it came from within. There was more of a collaborative effort between Matty, Rich and myself starting most of the songs out and finishing them with the rest of the band. I feel like we had a lot of time with these songs to sit and work them in the studio. When we went in to record, the songs were ready to go. We just had to capture the performance that we wanted. From the writing to the recording to the producing of the record I feel like it was a real group effort.

RN: Who came up the ideas for the album artwork?

Julien Jorgensen: We all did. The whole band kind of threw out ideas .We wanted a World War Two propaganda theme. We found an artist we like with a great style. His name is Matthew Newman of Subscience Studios. There is going to be about ten different pieces coming out that are synergistic with that particular art theme. We are really excited about this direction. It’s going to make for a lot of good posters and merch ideas.

RN: When will it be released?

Julien Jorgensen: February 15th

RN: What are you touring plans for 2011?

Julien Jorgensen: Right now we are doing a radio promotion tour. On February 15th we will be doing a WWE performance on Monday Night Raw in Anaheim CA. then we start the Monster Outbreak Tour that is sponsored by Monster Energy Drink. It will be a five band bill for three weeks a total of fourteen shows. After that things are up in the air. But we are gearing up for big plans for the spring and summer.

Guns N Roses Guitar Player Ron “BUMBLEFOOT” Thal Interviewed

Guns N Roses Guitar Player Ron “BUMBLEFOOT” Thal Interviewed

RN: For people that don’t know, how did you land the Guns N Roses Gig?

Ron Thal:

Joe Satriani recommended me back in the summer of 2004. That’s when I started talking to them. They had a tour booked and ready to go for May of 2006. So about a month before the tour they got back in touch with me and asked if I wanted to do it. We worked out some details and I had a week to learn everything and hit the road. I had seven rehearsals to learn everything and all the stuff from Chinese’s Democracy I had to learn on a pair of head phones on a laptop at the rehearsal room. They wouldn’t give me a copy of the album.

RN: The record was that top secret that’s crazy.

Ron Thal: It was. Everyone was worried about leaks and didn’t want it to get out there. They had these rules. The record does not get in any ones hands. It was pretty intense getting started. I thought to myself the worst that could happen is, I could screw up. Everyone screws up and I’ll nail it the next night.

RN: Is there any reason why you guys have not toured or played the U.S. since 2006?

Ron Thal: There was supposed to be a tour in the U.S. starting February. But considering I have not heard any thing about it I don’t think it is going to happen. There are just so many hands in the pot. It’s just not as simple as calling a venue and asking if we can play next month. You have managers that have to oversee everything that’s going on with booking agents that have to get in touch with each promoter in each area that have to check the venues. Then you have the travel itinerary and the production manager that has to look at everything and has to figure out if it’s feasible to transport the gear from point A to point B each time and see if there is enough profit or any profit so the tour does not loss money so people can afford to do it. It’s just so complicated and if one link in the chain goes it screws everything up. So we have been talking about it for months, I’m just waiting to get word from management. But it’s not looking to good.

RN: There is a rumor going around that you guys are working on new material for a new album. Can you shed some light on that?

Ron Thal: There are a lot of tracks from Chinese’s Democracy recording sessions that have not been released. I tracked on that stuff in 2006. As far as getting into the studio and writing brand new songs that has not happened yet. I think if a new album comes out it will be an album of unreleased tracks.

RN: How was it working with Kat Perkins (Scarlet Haze) on the song Reach Down?

Ron Thal: Kat is wonderful. She has so much talent and energy, she just has it. There are some people that energize a room she is one of those people. She made that song kick ass.

RN: How did it go in the studio?

Ron Thal: The way technology is now a days when you are working with someone you’re not even with them. Now it’s just transferring files and sending mp3’s

RN: In an interview I did with Kat she indicated to me that you may do a few dates with Scarlet Haze and maybe more if possible.

Ron Thal: Yes, we have spoken about that and it all hinges on every ones schedules. If I’m busy with Guns N Roses, I wouldn’t be able to do it. But if I’m free, I would love to hit the road with her.

SCARLET HAZE SET TO UNLEASH ONE BAD BITCH 2011!

Los Angeles, CA – January 3rd, 2011 – Dirtbag/ILG/Warner Music Group is proud to announce the signing and debut release of recording artist Scarlet Haze. The band will be hitting the road in cities all over the US this Spring and Summer in support of the effort. Tour dates coming soon. The bands’ new album One Bad Bitch features performances by members of Guns N Roses and Nine Inch Nails. The first single “Reach Down” will be impacting radio on January 11th. The band is comprised of lead vocalist Kat Perkins and touring musicians Eric Warner (guitar), Steve McClurg (bass) and Peter Day Elledge (drums). The band tours extensively and has shared the stage with many national touring artists including Bon Jovi, Candlebox, Saving Abel, Vince Neil, Blackstone Cherry, Rev Theory and Bret Michaels of Poison. Kat’s sultry onstage persona is equally as dangerous as her music.

I had a chance to ask (singer) Kat Perkins a few questions check it out.

RN: How would you describe Scarlet Haze?

Kat Perkins: Ideally Scarlet Haze would be a cross between Nickleback, Alanis Morissette and Paramore.

RN: Your new single “Reach Down” has a sleazy old school vibe to it. Is that the direction your album “One Bad Bitch” is going to be in?

Kat Perkins: The new record certainly has all those elements being pushed.

RN: When will your CD “One Bad Bitch “be released?

Kat Perkins: We are still working on the date. I am hoping for a spring release. It depends on how well the single “Reach Down” does. And if it does well, I don’t know if the label will want another single before the release the CD.

RN: Will there be a video for “Reach Down”?

Kat Perkins: Yes we will be doing that very soon. I would say in the next six weeks it should be released.

RN: You also have Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (Guns N Roses) playing on the album how did that come about?

Kat Perkins: Ron is a really good friend of one my A&R guys at the label. And he let Ron check out our music. And Ron wanted to reach out and help how ever he could. So he played on it and really got behind a female project and loved it.

RN: Who are some of the people that propelled you to get into the music business?

Kat Perkins: I have grown up around music. My dad was a musician. There was good music playing all the time. I grew up on Van Halen, Def Leppard, but I think you can’t help but be influenced by that kind of stuff if it’s around you. But now a days I like a lot of the new stuff I’m a huge Daughtry fan. I am a huge Halestom fan. I love Evanescence, Flyleaf.

RN: I noticed you played with a lot of big names. Are there any shows that stick out the most?

Kat Perkins: Bon Jovi, they are one of my icons. To play in an arena it was just mind blowing.

The Single “Reach Down” is available for download. For more info check out:

EGYPT CENTRAL SET TO UNLEASH WHITE RABBIT MAY 17th 2011!

EGYPT CENTRAL SET TO UNLEASH WHITE RABBIT MAY 17th 2011!

Los Angeles, CA
 - January 11th, 2011 – Fat Lady Music/ILG/Warner Music Group recording artist Egypt Central is gearing up for the release of their sophomore album White Rabbit on May 17th 2011.

White Rabbit was produced by Skidd Mills (Saving Abel, 12 Stones, etc.) in early October 2010 and features twelve songs of heavy riffs, lyrics from the soul and strong melodic hooks. Threaded throughout this collection of songs is a story of consequences that occur when one accepts or declines the invitation from the White Rabbit.  “We knew we had solid songs, but when the opportunity came to work with Skidd, we found the person that could not only make a great sounding record, but also bring the best out of us.” states lead singer John Falls. “We had a lot of growing to do as men and the time was right to give our fans what they deserved and what we knew we were capable of…Kick Ass Rock!” “Collectively this is the best group of songs we have ever written” adds bassist Joey Chicago.

Taking their name from one the toughest roads that runs through their hometown of Memphis, Tennessee, Egypt Central was formed in 2001.

The first single and title track White Rabbit will be released Feb 15th, 2011 to Active rock radio and iTunes and the full length CD will be released in May 2011.

Egypt Central will hit the road in early 2011 and if there is one thing you can be assured of is, once you see an Egypt Central show you canʼt wait for them to return. In the words of drummer Blake Allison “Our secret weapon has always been our live show. I canʼt tell you how excited we are to play this new batch of songs for our fans that have stuck by us and this is our invitation for anyone new to Egypt Central to come along on this journey… we hope you accept!”

EKOTREN – “THE DEAD OF NIGHT” CD REVIEW

CD REVIEW - EKOTREN  “THE DEAD OF NIGHT”

EkoTren – Has set January 25th as the release date for their sophomore effort “The Dead Of Night” via the Chicago-based record label Burnhill Union Records. After giving “The Dead Of Night” a few spins I found myself spinning it again and again. I can’t stop playing it. Ekotren has found a way to breath new life in to what I think has become a boring genre. They mix aggression and melody with ease. EKOTREN’s “The Dead Of Night” can easily stand toe to toe with Avenged Sevenfold’s “Nightmare” and any other CD that was released in 2010. Bottom line….. Ekotren has set the bar for 2011.

The first single  “Mask of Lies” can be streamed on MySpace.

EKOTREN is:

John Sheldon – Vocals
Keith Finnell – Guitars
Derek Desantis – Bass
Frank Jargiello – Drums

Track Listing:

The End Of The Day

Blackened Sky

Dead Behind The Eyes

A Road To Nowhere

Mask Of Lies

Light To Shine

Can’t Stay

The Suffering

The 2011 Winter Rock Asylum will be held Wednesday, January 19 at Canal Room, 285 West Broadway, Manhattan and will feature ZO2, Sweet Cyanide and Diablo Royale, three of NYC’s hottest rock bands.  The first home town show of the new year for all three bands, Rock Asylum promises to be one of the most kick-ass rock shows imaginable and is sure to be a sell-out.

In addition, every ticket sold in advance will sponsor a kindergarten kid from P.S. 52 in Brooklyn to attend a concert that the Z Brothers — ZO2′s alter ego kid’s band — will be donating to the school on January 18.  Those sponsors will receive a “Thank You” card from the student they sponsored when they pick up their tickets at the will-call window the day of the rock show. There are 100 kindergartners in P.S. 52 so the goal is to sell 100 pre-sale tickets. Once 100 presale tickets are sold, the concert will be opened to the first-graders and a new goal will be set.

Tickets are only $10 — $15 if purchased the day of the show. Go to www.zo2.com/rockasylum to buy tickets now. If a person can’t make the show but still wants to help, they can e-mail the band at zo2@zo2.com and let the band know they wish to contribute but can’t attend.

In addition, for the full Rock Asylum experience, VIP tickets are available, which include early admission to the venue to watch ZO2′s sound check, a private meet and greet and dinner with the band.  Food and soda is included.  Plus, each VIP ticket purchased will sponsor not one, but THREE kids to attend the Z Brothers concert. There are only 20 VIP tickets available so act fast. VIP tickets are $50 each and can be purchased at www.zo2.com/rockasylum

The band members grew up in Brooklyn and feel music is an important component to a well-rounded education.  With school budgets tight, they wanted to do their part to bring the music and lessons of the Z Brothers to the students at P.S. 52.

SCARLET HAZE SET TO UNLEASH ONE BAD BITCH 2011!

Her attention to stage detail, musicianship, vocal ability and undeniable sexuality, both in attire and music, leave her fans both teased and pleased simultaneously. “Rock, like Scarlet Haze, is a full package,” says Kat, “it’s not just for the ears but the eyes as well – people justwant to get off at a live show – and we aim to please!”

Scarlet Haze unleashes a truly fearless brand of hard rock on her Dirtbag/ILG/Warner debut. “Playing it safe is not something I back,” states Scarlet Haze lead singer Kat Perkins, “rock music is supposed to be dangerous.” Indeed, the band’s debut single “Reach Down,” which blends a hard edge melodic hook with sexy self pleasuring, is sonic proof of Scarlet Haze’s assault on safe music. “Reach Down,” says Kat, “is reactive and universal in subject matter because of its truth – everyone does it and that includes females.”

Scarlet Haze has amassed an impressive and loyal fan base, a who’s who of supporting musicians, a top-notch promotion/label team and is co managed by multi-platinum recording artist Disturbed’s bass player John Moyer- via Silver-Tongue Management.
