Toronto band My Darkest Days digs way down into their collective libido on “Casual Sex,” the first single from SICK AND TWISTED AFFAIR, hits #1 Rock Song on iTunes, their second album, due for spring release on Mercury Records. The new album was produced by Joey Moi, who worked with the band on their last self-titled debut MY DARKEST DAYS. “Casual Sex,” available today at iTunes, and impacting January 30^th at Active and Mainstream rock radio formats, features incendiary guitar work by John 5 (of Robb Zombie and Marilyn Manson renown).

Coinciding with the release of SICK AND TWISTED AFFAIR, My Darkest Days will hit the road for the massive two and a half month Nickelback “Here and Now Tour 2012” also starring Bush and Seether. The 39-city North American tour opens April 10^th at the i wireless Center in Moline, IL, and wraps up June 26^th at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, B.C. Tickets for most dates go on sale this Friday-Saturday, January 20-21. (Please check with local venue for ticket sale dates; and please see complete tour itinerary below.)

My Darkest Days first hit the charts in the fall of 2010, when their iconic debut single on Mercury Records, “Porn Star Dancing,” rose to #1 on the Active Rock and Mainstream Rock charts, and Top 20 at Alternative. “PSD” was certified RIAA gold in the U.S. (over 800,000 digital sales and still a recurrent Top 10 at Active Rock) and gold in Canada. The video (directed by Brendan Kyle Cochrane) broke the world record for the number of dancers in a music video, collected over 12 million YouTube views, and was also certified RIAA platinum.

My Darkest Days – Matt Walst (vocals, rhythm guitars), Brendan McMillan (bass, backing vocals), Doug Oliver (drums, backing vocals), Reid Henry (keyboard, backing vocals), Sal Coz Costa (lead guitar, backing vocals) – had a dream, they said, of hearing their single played in stripper clubs across North America and going to #1, and their dream came true. “Porn Star Dancing” was co-produced by Chad Kroeger of Nickelback, who first signed My Darkest Days to his Mountainview/604 Records. “Porn Star Dancing”made the rounds in two different versions, both featuring cameo appearances by Kroeger: a rock version with guitarist Zakk Wylde, and a pop mix featuring Def Jam labelmateLudacris. Kroeger went on to co-produce (with Joey Moi) MDD’s self-titled debut album, released September 2010.

BRIAN HEAD WELCH ANNOUNCES NEW BAND NAME LOVE & DEATH

February 6th, 2012 – Former Korn guitarist Brian Head Welch marks a new beginning with the announcement that his band will now go by the name Love & Death. “I put this band together in 2009” states Welch. “Since then, we’ve experienced some very intense highs and lows. Michael Valentine, Dan Johnson, J.R. Bareis and myself have toured around the world playing a lot of killer shows, but we’ve also had some heart shattering difficulties along the way as well. To us, the name “Love and Death” symbolizes everything we’ve been through as a band over the last few years. We love this band so much and we’ll go through hell to connect with our fans. We’ve proven that to ourselves over and over again.”

With Love & Death, the music now lives under it’s own banner. “Many people have confused my speaking dates and our band dates because they were both being booked as Brian Head Welch” says Welch. “I have wanted to use a band name for branding my music for a few years. It has been an ongoing discussion with my management, but we were just starting to tour and I was in the middle of supporting my third book and it seemed like a bad time to switch names. Now with the new music coming out, its time to really separate the things I do. I want the music to be about music. I will still be doing public speaking under Brian Head Welch. I am happy that all the confusion will be over.”

The band formed when Welch decided to have open auditions on YouTube in 2009. “I picked the guys and then had a jam session in Phoenix” says Welch. “Over the last couple of years, there have been a few line up changes as we went through normal growing pains. The current band has been together and touring for a while now and they are a big part of the new music and the future of LOVE & DEATH.”

Along with the new band name, Love and Death’s first official music project will be released on April 24th. The first single “Chemicals” will be released sometime in March, along with an intense semi-animated music video shot by POAB Designs/Martillo Pictures.

The band’s latest single “Paralyzed” is already #5 on the BDS rock chart (the single was released under the name Brian Head Welch). “Paralyzed” was produced by Jason Rauch (Red, Breaking Benjamin) and mixed by Lee Bridges (Third Day, Newsboys).

Las Vegas, NV – American Capitalism will be heading to the Great White North this spring. Five Finger Death Punch has announced they will tour Canada as well as the Western US beginning this March, with legendary Soulfly as support, as well as Windowpane and Persist. 5FDP will headline Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg and more, while also playing a special Las Vegas hometown show alongside other western-US markets. Singer Ivan Moody shared, “The few times we’ve been to Canada it’s been absolutely phenomenal. The fact that we get to take a band like Soulfly with us on a tour like this says it all. Legendary Guitarist Receives New MV-1 Enabling West To Tour

FIRST POST-AMPUTATION PUBLIC PERFORMANCES ANNOUNCED

WITH RETURN TO THE ROAD JANUARY 31

New York, NY – The Vehicle Production Group, a brand new American car company that designs, engineers, and distributes specialty vehicles, has altruistically gifted a brand new MV-1 to Leslie West. Faced with the challenges of touring following the June, 2011 amputation of his right leg above the knee, the MV-1 is the first mobility vehicle designed from the ground up for wheelchair accessibility, and this act of kindness has solved the major obstacle that derailed the guitarist’s prior plans to return to the road.

The MV-1 is not an aftermarket conversion. The vehicle is the only factory built mode of transportation that meets or exceeds the guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) direct from the factory. The fully boxed, body-on-frame design provides unrivaled strength, safety, and durability, and the MV-1 meets or exceeds all of the requirements set by the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS). The Vehicle Production Group has partnered with AM General to assemble the MV-1 at their state-of-the-art plant in Mishawaka, Indiana, the former home of the Hummer H2. This new product is the only vehicle made in America with a factory installed Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fuel system option.

West received the vehicle from The Vehicle Production Group on December 22, 2011. The guitarist shared, “This is nicer than any guitar I have ever owned, and I’ve had some pretty incredible instruments including my own Leslie West Dean Signature Series. I was speechless. People would be proud to own this vehicle. The gestures made collectively by Fred, Brian and Steven, are the most generous I have experienced in my life.” Fred Drasner, Chairman of The Vehicle Production Group LLC added, “From my days at Woodstock, to the release of Unusual Suspects, I always thought Leslie West was the best. When I heard his tour was cancelled because of a lack of accessible transportation, I was thrilled to be in a position to help him get back on the road. For me and his millions of fans, that is where he should be. All of us at VPG are extremely proud to be a part of getting Leslie safely back on the road in comfort and style in his new MV-1”.

West is a guitar god. From the Sixties through today, he has been revered by artists and fans alike. At age 66, West continues to remain current, as witnessed by the assemblage of legends joining him on the album which include Billy Gibbons, Slash, Zakk Wylde, Joe Bonamassa and Steve Lukather, alongside Kenny Aronoff. New York — Mascot Label Group has announced a March 27 release date for the debut from Flying Colors (available the day prior overseas) on their Music Theories Label. The formation of the ensemble began with a simple idea: virtuoso musicians and a pop singer joining together to make new-fashioned music the old fashioned way. Refreshing, classic, old and new, the recordings are saturated with the many styles, tones and hues of the players who in becoming a band have delivered a unique fusion of vintage craftsmanship and contemporary music. Flying Colors is Mike Portnoy (drums, vocals), Dave LaRue (bass), Neal Morse (keyboards, vocals), Casey McPherson (lead vocals), and Steve Morse (guitar). Portnoy shares, “This album has bits and pieces of what you’d expect from each of us. However, the sum of all its parts led to brand new, unchartered territory for all involved.”

In 2008, executive producer Bill Evans brought the idea to the world renowned musicians and producer Peter Collins. Intrigued by the idea, and the prospect of working together, the four signed on to form a band and record a first album. Steve Morse and Dave LaRue have developed a magical music chemistry over the years, that began early in their careers as partners in Dixie Dregs. Morse subsequently became a member of Deep Purple in 1995, while LaRue’s ongoing musical adventures include Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, Jordan Rudess, Steve Vai, and the aforementioned Portnoy. Multi-instrumentalist, composer and singer Neal Morse is one of the leading figures in progressive rock, who’s significant notoriety follows his co-founding of the seminal band, Spock’s Beard in 1995, recordings as a solo artist, and contributions to the super-group Transatlantic. Mike Portnoy is one of the most popular and respected drummers in both metal and rock, and an accomplished writer and producer. He is the recipient of numerous industry accolades, including 26 Modern Drummer awards, Revolver Magazine’s Golden God award for “Best Drummer” and Drum Magazine‘s “Drummer of the Year”. He rose to prominence as the leader, drummer, producer, and co-writer for metal/prog juggernaut Dream Theater, before moving on in 2010. That same year, he worked on Avenged Sevenfold’s #1 album Nightmare and their subsequent tour. And, it was Portnoy who recommended Alpha Rev’s emotive singer Casey McPherson as a contender to join Flying Colors.

McPherson, who’s 2010 Hollywood/Disney album New Morning debuted in the Top-5 on two Billboard charts, enjoyed major success at radio with multiple hits. The track “New Morning” spent 17 weeks in the Top-10 on Triple A Radio, and enjoyed a run on Vh1’s Top-20 Countdown for months. Steve Morse offers, “Casey was a glorious find, because he could make anything sound fantastic, and is a multitalented like the others.”

Flying Colors convened for just nine days in early 2011, and composed and recorded this album during a short and intense session. Dave LaRue recalls, “It was quite an experience – the band moved at a fast pace, ideas flying around the room at all times. Sections of tunes were arranged, then re-arranged, ideas were tried every which way until we made them work, or, in some cases, discarded them altogether. Just keeping track of everything was a challenge!” McPherson adds, “This record is filled with trial and triumph. Raw and delicate songs alike amidst the swirling and daring orchestration of Steve, Neal, Mike and Dave. It’s been such an inspiring challenge melding folk, prog, pop, and metal all into one big recording.”

Scum Of The Earth Signs To Goomba Music

Goomba music announces the signing of Scum Of The Earth, the brainchild band of former Rob Zombie guitarist/song writer RIGGS. The new album (title to be determined) is set for a 2012 release and is a follow up to 2007′s highly acclaimed Sleaze Freak. RIGGS is currently writing material for the album and plans to be in the studio by the end of the year. “The new material is like classic SOTE material being possessed by demons with a modern twist ” states RIGGS “I’m excited to get into the studio and start recording. There will be some crazy tracks on this one!”

SCUM OF THE EARTH

Scum Of The Earth was formed in late 2003 by former Rob Zombie guitarist RIGGS while Rob focused on his movie career. Being the brainchild of RIGGS, Scum Of The Earth’smusic focused on a horror/heavy rock theme which he has helped incorporate during his time in Rob Zombie.

The band released Blah Blah Blah…Love Songs for the New Millennium in 2004 which met with much critical acclaim. The follow up, 2007′s Sleaze Freak was also well received and landed album cuts in many movie soundtracks and video games.

In November 2011 Scum Of The Earth signed with Chicago based Goomba Music. The approach being a partnership in which Goomba and RIGGS could develop the band and new album in a state of the art fashion. The new album promises to be a step in a new and modern direction while staying true to the roots and original concept of the band. RIGGS describes the new material as “Classic Scum of the Earth with a demonic twist”. The new album (title to be determined) is set for a 2012 release.

This album mark’s the follow up to their highly successful debut “Twelve Year Silence” which was released in 2005. The new album will feature some of the band’s finest material to date and a deluxe edition will include exclusive bonus tracks.

Dark New Day formed in 2004 and features Will Hunt (Evanescence), Clint Lowery (Sevendust), Brett Hestla (Virgos Merlot), Troy McLawhorn (Evanescence), and Corey Lowery (Stereomud, Eye Empire). The band went on a hiatus after releasing the “Black Porch (Acoustic Sessions)” EP while the members focused on their current projects. The band came together in 2011 to compile tracks for this special release to put out as a “Thank You” to all the loyal fans that have continued to follow the band and request more material from the group.
