National Recording Artist BANG TANGO will be headlining this years Summerfest block party at the Sunbury Rescue Hose Company #1 to raise money for a new water rescue craft. Their current rescue craft was damaged after Hurricane Lee flooded region.

When I spoke to event coordinator Michelle Suhovsky she said “This event is to purchase apparatus. Our water rescue boat was damaged in the recent flooding where I have to add, our water rescue team was out for 36 straight hours, saving more than 30 lives, pets too. We need to raise money for a new boat so I thought “Let’s organize a Block Party“ . I was always a fan of Bang Tango. When I starting promoting I thought. “I would love to put them in here and play.”

This event will also be featuring AVENGING AUTUMN, AUDIOBURN and BURY THE SUN. This is an all day event, bands start at 4:00 pm. Interview W/ Trent Anderson

RN: You just played this years M3 festival, how did that go for you guys?

Trent Anderson: It was amazing on all levels. Not only was the lineup great but it was really enjoyable seeing Ratt, Queenryche, Quit Riot and everybody else. Everyone I had a chance to watch did a good job. The people that run M3 are amazing. They are professional and they treat the bands very well. The fans are just die hard. RN: Let’s talk about you new CD. “Pistol Whipped In The Bible Belt”.

Trent Anderson: It was released last October here in the states and it was just released in Europe this part March.

RN: How is the CD doing?

Trent Anderson: It’s doing well. It has gotten some pretty good reviews especially in Germany?

RN: How has the response been from the fans?

Trent Anderson: It’s been good, I think that’s partly because we wanted to be honest about the album and not pass it off as something that it isn’t. It was an honest album. It was something that we wanted to do. We knew we were taking a risk, you always are. We knew we would have some people saying “it does not sound like the old band“. What band does? On top of that there are only a handful of bands out there that have their original members. So the bottom line is, this was not going to sound like the first album anyway. We wanted to bring that essence, that feel, that funky kind of groove back but we also wanted a record that said, “This is modern. This is rock n roll. This is where Bang Tango is now“.  I think over the next few releases we are going toward a funkier, bluesy kind of feel. This record was not planned to sound this way. It sounds this way because this is who we are but we didn’t want to remake the first record either. We just wanted to do something for our selves.

RN: When it came to recording and writing did everyone have a hand it?

Trent Anderson: Yeah, we all had a hand in writing this album. We had a few friends help out as well. This is something we wanted to do and have fun with. Let’s be honest, the money from the old days is just not there anymore. So we thought if we were not going to get rich off of this thing, let’s be proud of it, let’s have fun with it and let’s make it with people we really like and care about.

RN: I don’t know how many people know this but, this CD has been in the making for a while. Before Alex (Grossi) left the band, this CD was in the works. Did Alex help out with the album?

Trent Anderson: Yeah he did. Alex is family to us. Alex will always be apart of this band. Alex co-wrote a song on the album called “Suck It Up”. And yes it’s been in the making for awhile. We wrote one song in storage space that a band was using as a practice spot. We wrote another song in my brother’s basement in Ohio, we wrote another song in a club in Idaho Falls. We wrote another song in a hotel room in Seattle. So this thing was written while we were on the road and we put it all together in the studio. We had 2 brilliant producers who work at Johnny K’s studio.  Kevin (karp) Rodgers and Daniel Salcido did a great job. They had input on the album as well. It was a great experience. It was fun and off the cuff. It was great.

RN: How many new songs do you play live?

Trent Anderson: Four songs from the new CD. We just added “Soul To Soul”, it’s good stuff. There is some old stuff, some new stuff. There is something off of every album except for “From The Hip”.

RN: It’s good to hear that you are playing songs from your new CD. A lot of bands just live off of what they did in the past and don’t play any new stuff at all.

Trent Aderson: We are just having a good time. Like I said if we are not going to get rich we want to have fun.

RN: I wanted to ask about a show you have coming up June 30^th in Sunbury PA. It’s a fundraiser for the Sunbury Rescue Hose Company #1 to raise money to buy a new Rescue Craft which was damaged during the flood of 2011 where they rescued over 30 people plus animals as well.

Trent Anderson: Yes, this is a situation where a friend of ours Joel (Skin suit) Walter really wanted us on this show. He was a big part in getting this date together. We are all about it. We said let’s do this, let’s get involved. We obviously can’t get involved with every fundraiser because we all live in different areas and it’s hard to get to places but we wanted to get involved with this one. This is important.

RN: You’re right it is important. These people are all volunteers and they risk their lives to save others on a daily basis. It’s great to see you guys helping out.

Trent Anderson: I hate when musicians have attitudes like they are better then everyone else. All a musician does is play music and sell records. We are like monkeys in the zoo. The real heroes in this world are the Firefighters, the Police, the E.M.T.‘s, Nurses, Men and Women in the Armed Forces and School Teachers.

RN: For the people in Sunbury, what can they expect to see from Bang Tango?

Trent Anderson: We are going to give every song we can give them. We want to play a nice long set. At every show we do a meet n great. It’s very important to meet and hang out with the people that come out to our shows. The fans are more important than we are because with out them we can’t do what we do.

With the  single “Uh Oh” already climbing the charts and a video that is playing all over  the country, Florida-based pop rockers Junior Doctor announce the national  release of CLUMSY WORDS AND BAD PICKUP LINES on April 10,  2012.

Junior  Doctor has captivated Space Coast crowds for years with their roaring guitar  lines, pounding rhythmic sequences and energetic live shows. The power-pop  quartet consists of Mark Hartman (lead singer and rhythm guitars), Jarrod  Kearney (drums), Richard Peidro (bass), and Terrence Donnelly (guitar).

The  Junior Doctor laboratory was full of production talent, and instead of working  with just one person, the band experimented with heavy talent for CLUMSY WORDS.  They first entered the studio with Matt Goldman (Cartel, Underoath, Anberlin),  and followed those sessions with a significant production and mixing  contribution by Executive Producers Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount (All Time Low,  Mayday Parade, Go Radio). The album was  rounded out with work by Ethan Mentzer (The Click Five) and Todd Wright (Getaway  Car). The result of the 9-month collaboration is a CD that stays true to the  punk/rock roots that made Junior Doctor popular, with an added kick of catchy  hooks and melodies.

Mark  Hartman says the CD is mostly a collection of mostly-true punk pop love songs,  but it’s not just about romance.Recounting the sensation of having someone take your breath away and  leave you unable to find the right words, he explains, “Uh Oh” is a meaningful  because it is about that happy first love vibe,” and “Not Now” was inspired by  the same person, though “it was hypothetical.I was afraid that it would really play out this way, with timing never  being quite right. Luckily it didn’t.” But there are more introspective tracks  as well. The orchestral and lovely “Beautiful and Blind” was a gift to Hartman’s cousin upon her awaking from a  crash-induced, near-fatal coma. “She had  to rebuild her life, and this song was meant to give her a push while doing  that.” And the newer inclusions to CLUMSY  WORDS are the result of being on the road for a year, enjoying positive  recognition, but also experiencing the challenges of the music industry. “Mirror Mirror” is particularly personal to  Hartman. “Pursuing anything you care  about requires sacrifice, and requiring the people who care about and support me  to make sacrifices as well. The song is asking if I’m ok with that, if I’m ok  with who I’ve become in the process.”

In  advance of the release of CLUMSY WORDS, the band released a video for “Uh Oh” which stars Cassie Steele from “Degrassi: The Next Generation.” They’ve been on tour with Sister Hazel,  Freshman 15, and have performed at schools across the south and east  U.S.

Midwestern Quintet Planning Summer Tour Mixing Headline

Dates Alongside Support Appearances

   Minneapolis — Rock quintet Downtread have returned with Stand Your Ground, a follow-up release to the band’s 2010 debut album 144.  Their aim, to continue building a fan base drawn to the music they are recording, and to simply provoke a response.  Vocalist  / Guitarist Brett Petrusek shares, “We fit in our own weird, restless little spot.  We want to provoke an honest response, whatever that is.  If someone gets pissed or happy or bummed out – I don’t care, as long as the music makes you feel something.  That makes the whole journey worthwhile.”

On the latest leg of their ongoing journey, the band will continue to build an audience through appearances affording Downtread a higher profile than the vast majority of their contemporaries in the development phase of a career.  In mixing prime support appearances alongside headline dates, they will play in front of tens of thousands.  Since forming in 2007, and making their first appearance at the Dallas International Guitar Festival, Downtread has appeared on stages that cumulatively placed the band in front of over a million rock fans.  They made the pilgrimage to perform at Sturgis and Rocklahoma, while also taking the stage in front of Collective Soul, Whitesnake, Judas Priest, Cheap Trick, Ratt, Bret Michaels, and many others.  They relish the opportunity to connect with fans on the road, and those travels have been the primary driver in a career that now boasts a large legion of fans.

The unintentionally provocative title of their second album, Stand Your Ground, was coined long before headlines ran rampant in news media.  Days before the album was manufactured, the tragic shooting in Florida pressed the phrase in to the public’s consciousness.  Petrusek offers, “It was pretty weird – purely coincidental.  We finished recording the album, chose the title song and completed the artwork.  And then all of a sudden the ‘Stand Your Ground’ law in Florida turns into a major topic of debate, with people screaming about it on TV.  For us, the phrase isn’t some kind of agro challenge or an excuse to whip out a pistol.  We always thought of it as a patriotic and creative testament:  if you’re in a position to stand your ground, it means you must’ve arrived in the first place.” He continues, “We don’t have any emphasis on being a political band, but you can’t go through a day without being bombarded by the media and world crisis.  It’s unavoidable.  It all started with ‘Don’t Get Weak’ which is basically says ‘This whole situation blows, so let’s get together and kick some ass — raise a fist and fight for what’s yours.’  I guess that was a bit of a departure for us and it led to a few more tracks, including the title track ‘Stand Your Ground’ which sends the message ‘make this nation strong.’  It’s safe to say that we don’t have uniform political beliefs in this band,” Petrusek laughs.  Bassist / Vocalist Robert Berg adds, “Different band members are voting for different people.”

Produced, engineered and mixed by Jeremy Tappero, Stand Your Ground is a locally grown Minnesota product:  you can hear Downtread’s home-turf swagger fueling the recording sessions at Pound Sound Studios in St. Paul, and Greg Reierson nicely wrangles the savage beast during mastering sessions at Rare Form Mastering in Minneapolis.

One song on Stand Your Ground seems to epitomize the collaboration:  “I Told You” features a string arrangement by the band’s good friend Joel Kosche (solo artist and lead guitarist for Collective Soul), perfectly ensconced in an epic-scale sonic landscape.

   Stand Your Ground shows Downtread’s sound growing and deepening since the 2010 debut album 144.   The new album also benefits from a different recording method.  “On our last album,” Petrusek explains, “we recorded the way most bands do.  We laid down basic tracks, then layered on guitars, then vocals – working on the album in its entirety.  This is a really long process and it can tend to lose momentum.  On Stand Your Ground we completed one track at a time, from start to completion.  We’d get really pumped up, because we could hear the final product of the first song before we even started work on the second song.  Each song stayed fresher and the flavors change from song to song.  It’s a lot more inspiring to do it that way and we’re going to keep doing it that way from now on.”  Guitarist Teddy Gordon echoes these sentiments sharing, “The big difference between this album and 144 is the cohesion.  On 144 we had all the basic pieces in place – big heavy guitar riffs and monster drums – and we were simply trying to get it all out.  On Stand Your Ground the band has learned how to make it all click together.  It’s both an ignition as well as a refinement, and our vocabulary has grown.  The same lineup has been together for a few years, and we’ve learned how to speak a language together better over time.”

RED LINE CHEMISTRY RETURNS WITH “UNSPOKEN”

Track Delivers Fastest Rise Up The Charts In RLC’s Career To Date

   Kansas City, MO — Red Line Chemistry has returned with a new song, and the rise up the charts is unprecedented for the Kansas City-based quintet.  Produced by Nick Raskulinecz and Matt Hyde,  “Unspoken” raced in to the Top 40 at rock radio in two weeks, quickly rising to #1 at KHTQ in Spokane, WA.  In additional markets that include Phoenix, Kansas City, and Madison, the track is a generating an immediate response.  Currently, “Unspoken” sits at number 36 on the charts, on its way to the solidifying the band’s prominence at the active rock format.

Red Line Chemistry will hit the road in June and July, and then return to the studio in August to complete the band’s follow-up to Dying For A Living.  The new album is tentatively scheduled for release late this year.  On working with Raskulinecz and Hyde, guitarist Andrew Breit shared, “Nick and Matt are true pros and great guys. They have shown undeniable knowledge and savvy in helping us achieve our sonic vision for these tracks. Recording with them has been very rewarding…and we can’t wait to finish the record and show the world what we’ve been up to. “  In reference to the songs themselves, Singer Brett Ditgen adds, “We are gelling as a band and the writing process has been more collective on the new material.   We spent time letting ideas breathe and evolve organically. ALBUM  LONDON DAZE

   Los Angeles, CA…On June  19, Deadline Music (a subsidiary of Cleopatra Records) will release the rare  fifth studio album from Spiders & Snakes, the storied Sunset Blvd. band  fronted by Lizzie Grey.  Packaged  with bonus tracks from the original 1980 London demo featuring Nikki Sixx of  Motley Crue and Nigel Benjamin of Mott the Hoople, this LONDON DAZE release is  finally celebrating the unsung legacy of Lizzie and his place in Hollywood rock  music history.

   LONDON DAZE was  originally released in 2000 through Deadline/Cleopatra Records, but a series of  epically unfortunate events, including a paperwork glitch with the label’s  distributer and most horrifically the unexpected death of bassist Leigh Lawson  just four weeks after the album’s release, prevented it from reaching the  masses.  The band had to cancel its  entire U.S. tour to support the record, and the LONDON DAZE CD sat dormant in a  warehouse in the Midwest as the band was forced to re-group.  “This album is like a time capsule.  It’s not just nostalgia; it never got  its chance, so it’s actually new.  In mint condition!” said Lizzie. 

   Lizzie likes to say he has the Midas  touch, but not on himself.  For  decades in bands like London, Sister and St. Valentine, he’s collaborated with  people who have gone on to luminous careers, including Izzy,  Steven, Slash, and Axl (Guns ‘n Roses), Blackie Lawless (WASP), Fred Coury  (Cinderella), Nigel Benjamin (Mott The Hoople) and Desi and Lizzy  (D’Molls).  Most notably, he penned “Public Enemy #1” which went on to be a calling card for Nikki and Motley  Crue.  With one foot firmly in the  Sunset Strip and the other in punk, Lizzie has kept the creative wheels turning  and never gave up on the enduring power of rock ‘n’ roll.

   Given this history and  influence, Lizzie has been featured in “The Metal Years” and VH1’s “Metal  Evolution series.  On LONDON DAZE,  Lizzie says, “Anyone into motivated Hollywood street rock will be getting their  money’s worth.”

    In addition to Lizzie  on vocals and guitar and the late Leigh Lawson (bass), Spiders & Snakes is  Doug E. Sex (guitar) and Timothy Yasui (drums, percussion, backing  vocals).

   George “Mr. Scary” Lynch cemented his legendary role in the heavy music community in the early  1980s when he joined forces with Don Dokken.  For almost a decade with Dokken, Lynch  was able to develop a groundbreaking brand of guitar virtuoso that would also  earn a Grammy nomination.  In the  early 1990s, Lynch launched his own project, Lynch Mob, which released several  well-received records in between Lynch’s eclectic other solo works. 

   But in 2003, the Mob  reassembled to rework Dokken and Lynch Mob material.  The result was a decidedly darker,  heavier, and very experimental reinvention that fans of all iterations of George  Lynch appreciated.  They took it on  the road for a series of fierce concerts that left audiences jaw-dropped at the  band’s creative live presentation

   The Lost Art Of Rock N Roll is the name of Oakland California based Electric Sister’s debut CD that was released in October 2011. If rock n roll truly is a lost art, Electric Sister sure found it. Finally a band that knows where to put a guitar solo and how to play one without over complicating it, a vocalist that can sing his ass off and a rhythm section that’s absolutely phenomenal.  “The Lost Art Of Rock N Roll” is full of nothing but killer songs that any rock n roll or heavy metal fan would love. It doesn’t matter if you are an old school Kiss or Black Sabbath fan or if you are coming from the new school. Electric Sister has something for you.

I had chance to talk to vocalist Thadeus Gonzalez check it out.

RN: When did you start playing guitar?

Thadeus Gonzalez: I took my first guitar lesson when I was 8 years old. The teacher wouldn’t teach me any Def Leppard so I stopped. I can’t remember it being something I didn’t want to do.

RN: How did Electric Sister get started?

Thadeus Gonzalez: I knew our guitar player Jason from a club we used to hang at. He wanted to start a new project and asked me to come down and jam. He gave me this song “The Leper” which in on the album and I put some lyrics to it. That was two years ago. That’s pretty much how it started.

RN: When did you start recording “The Lost Art Of Rock N Roll”?

Thadeus Gonzalez: We recorded it the summer of 2011.  And we released it in October of 2011.

RN: I heard you guys are doing Iron Maiden and Van Halen Tributes?

Thadeus Gonzalez: I just cut the vocals for Killers and Drop Dead Legs was done a month or so ago. I don’t know when they are going to be released.

RN:  You guys have a new single coming out. Do you want to shed some light on that?

Thadeus Gonzalez: “Surprise Gone Wrong”, its a little more post punk and little more progressive. We are putting it up for free just to get something else out there.

RN: Do you guys plan on hitting the road anytime soon?

Thadeus Gonzalez: We want to get out to the east coast. I think we are doing the west coast soon. Things are still being worked out.

RN:  How did you guys come up with the title track “The Lost Art Of Rock N Roll”?

Thadeus Gonzalez: We wrote the lyrics at a time when we were in LA a lot. The culture there is almost like the 80s. You don’t see it anywhere else. And Jason wrote a few lines, I wrote a few lines and put them together and he was like “that’s the lost art of rock n roll” and that was it. It is exactly what it is. That whole mystic is gone.

RN:  For people that have never heard of Electric Sister, how would describe the sound of the band?
