Gunpowder Gray has dropped a killer self titled E.P. via Boris Records. Hailing from Atlanta Georgia, Gunpowder Gray has proven rock is far from dead and it is alive and well. Listening to this CD reminds me of why I fell in love with rock music in the first place. This E.P. has seven tracks filled with heavy blues riffs, a bad ass rhythm section and a singer who embraces his old school influences. Gunpowder Gray’s self titled E.P. is a must have for everyone.

I spoke with lead vocalist Nate Godbee, Check out the chat below.
Dante: How long has Gunpowder Gray been a band?
Nate Godbee: We got together at the very beginning of 2013. I had talked to Chris about starting a rock band a few times, so when I found out that my roommate was jamming with him I asked if I could sing for them. Joey was already on board, so once we had Sam in the band it was already rolling along. We played our first show in May, and it’s been picking up steam since.
Dante: How long did it take to make your album?
Nate Godbee: We had all the material written by mid summer and we went into the studio in October. It took us about 3 or 4 sessions to get everything recorded. The whole thing happened really fast. The label, Boris Records wanted to release it on Record Store Day. So we have been sitting on it for a few months now and we are very happy to have it out there for people to hear.
Dante: You have an old school sound. What are some of your influences?
Nate Godbee: Looking at it from a band perspective we all have different influences. Adam and I have a lot of metal influences, Joey likes rock n roll kind of stuff and Chris has played punk. But I think at the root of it all and what we have in common is we really love the raw energy of it.
Dante: Do you have any touring plans?
Nate Godbee: We are working on that now. We are looking into a run of the east coast and a run of the mid west. We are still working on it. We hope to be on the road by summer.
Dante: How did the CD release party go?
Nate Godbee: It went great. It was a lot of fun and we hope to keep the momentum going.
Dante: How has the fan response been since the release of the E.P.?
Nate Godbee: It’s been over whelming. We couldn’t be happier with the response. People really have thrown their support behind us and for that we are truly grateful.
Dante: Is there anything you want to say to your fans before we end this?
Nate Godbee: Thank you for all your support. It really means the world to us. We hope to see everyone out on the road this summer.
