FLAW SHOW REVIEW 4-18 STAGE WEST SCRANTON PA
First let me start off by saying this was my first time at Stage West in Scranton PA. I was not expecting much because, I have learned to keep my expectations low. To my surprise Stage West was the exact opposite of what I was expecting. The venue is nice with a good size bar, upstairs balcony with tables and an outside deck. The stage is low, giving a good intimate feel. The lighting is great and the sound is awesome. With all that being said I would strongly suggest Stage West to any band or show goer.
FROM THE TOP DOWN
FLAW: The band did a great job, pulling a nice size crowd on a Tuesday night. FLAW performed an eight song set with five songs coming from their debut album, “Through The Eyes”.
They opened with Medicate from their sophomore album Endangered Species followed by Only The Strong, and Scheme. Next up was Conquer This Climb. If you don’t know that one check out the video they did with Stephen Colbert of The Late Show. And from their album Divided We Fall they did the single “Live And Breath”, and back to the first album for the final three songs Get Up Again, My Letter, and Payback.
Over all I would say, check out the remaining tour dates. If you can make it out to a show do it! You will not be disappointed. FLAW is on the road killing it with two other great bands. You owe it to yourself to get out and have a good time.
The Mendenhall Experiment: I never heard of these guys until this night. For the most part, I can only speak for myself. When hearing a band for the first time in a live setting it really can make or break a band. If the band sucks live, I have nothing vested. I don’t need to force myself to dig them because I like their CD. With that said, The Mendenhall Experiment are great live, and I am listening to their music now as I type this review. CHECK OUT The Mendenhall Experiment HERE
Black Water Rising: What can be said? I love these guys! I have never seen a bad Black Water Rising show. Live these guys are always tight. They are a straight up heavy as hell rock band with a killer groove. I encourage everyone to check these guys out. CHECK OUT Black Water Rising HERE
And then we have the local openers. What kind of guy would I be without mentioning the local openers. Royal Hell. I had no idea these guys were on this bill. To be honest, (with the exception of a few) I gave up on local bands from North Eastern PA. Royal Hell fit in nicely on this bill. The band offers up a good dose of high octane hard rock. Check out their stuff here.
